What is SMS Two-Factor Authentication?

SMS two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your 10xVotes account. When you sign in or perform sensitive actions, we’ll send a one-time verification code to your mobile phone via text message.

How It Works

  1. Sign in to your 10xVotes account with your username and password
  2. We’ll send a 6-digit verification code to your registered phone number
  3. Enter the code on the verification screen within 10 minutes
  4. You’re securely logged in

Common SMS Commands

  • STOP — Opt out of all SMS messages from 10xVotes. You’ll no longer receive authentication codes via SMS.
  • START — Opt back in to receive SMS messages after opting out.
  • HELP — Display help information (this page).

Message Types You’ll Receive

  • Verification codes — One-time codes for logging in
  • Security alerts — Notifications about sign-ins from new devices
  • Password reset codes — Codes to reset your password securely

Frequently Asked Questions

I didn’t receive my verification code. What should I do?

  • Wait a few minutes — SMS messages can sometimes be delayed
  • Check that you entered the correct phone number in your account settings
  • Make sure you have cellular service or Wi-Fi calling enabled
  • Check if your phone is blocking messages from unknown numbers
  • Try requesting a new code

My verification code expired. How do I get a new one?

Verification codes expire after 10 minutes for security reasons. Simply request a new code from the login screen.

What if I opted out by accident?

Text START to the same number to opt back in. You’ll receive a confirmation message and can then receive verification codes again.

Will I be charged for these messages?

10xVotes does not charge for SMS messages, but standard message and data rates from your mobile carrier may apply. Check with your carrier for details about your plan.

How often will I receive messages?

You’ll only receive SMS messages when:

  • You’re logging in to your account
  • You’re resetting your password
  • A sign-in from a new device is detected
  • You perform other security-sensitive actions

Message frequency varies based on usage but is typically minimal.

Can I use SMS 2FA without opting in?

No. You must opt in to receive SMS messages. However, SMS 2FA is optional — you can use 10xVotes without enabling SMS authentication.

Security Tip:
Never share your verification codes with anyone. 10xVotes will never ask you to share your codes via email, phone, or any other method.

You can manage your SMS preferences at any time by:

  • Logging in to your 10xVotes account at www.10xvotes.com
  • Going to Account Settings → Security → Two-Factor Authentication
  • Enabling or disabling SMS authentication
  • Updating your phone number
